Update: Overnight Lane Closures On Southbound I-87/I-287 This Week Preparations for Upcoming Traffic Shift in Rockland and Westchester Counties

September 25, 2017

This week, Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC) will mill and pave sections of the southbound/eastbound New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) near the landings of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. The work will prepare the area for the shift in southbound/eastbound traffic to the new bridge, and require multiple overnight lane closures between exit 11 (Nyack – South Nyack – US Route 9W) and exit 9 (Tarrytown – Sleepy Hollow – US Route 9).

TZC is also scheduled to move necessary equipment near the Westchester landing on Wednesday night, requiring a single southbound/eastbound traffic stop at midnight. State Police will hold traffic in the four southbound/eastbound Thruway lanes near the bridge for up to 15 minutes.

Specific lane closure times are listed in the chart below.
