The New York State Thruway Authority is scheduled to open the newly reconfigured Interchange 10 in South Nyack on Thursday, October Oct. 10, weather permitting. Vehicles will access the northbound and southbound Thruway from a new signalized intersection at Route 9W and Hillside Avenue. At that time, the current southbound on-ramp from South Broadway will be permanently closed. Electronic message signage in the vicinity has been activated to inform motorists of the upcoming traffic pattern change.
With this new traffic pattern, riders of the Hudson Link bus service will use two new stops on South Franklin Street Extension. They will replace the current stops at Clinton Avenue and South Broadway.

Lane Control Signage
Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC (TZC) is scheduled to continue realigning lane control signage on the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. The work requires overnight closures of northbound New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) traffic lanes.

Bicycle/Pedestrian Path

On the bridge, TZC will continue to work on the northern side of the westbound span for the path’s overlooks and fencing.
At the Westchester Landing, construction continues at the terminus site walls, storage building and visitor pavilion. Operations include pouring concrete, painting, paving, excavating, installing electrical wiring, rebar, tiles, roofing, glass, and plumbing. Additional flatwork for the shared bicycle/pedestrian side path is also taking place along Route 9.
Additional work includes:
- Signage, drainage work, landscaping, and pouring concrete and stormwater channel improvements near bridge landings
- Area preparation at the New York State Thruway Maintenance and New York State Police facilities
- Dismantling of the old bridge’s foundations, weather permitting
Boater Safety
Partial closures of the main navigation channel may be necessary.
All vessels should avoid the perimeter of all buoys and stay within the navigation channel as demolition operations continue this coming week.
Cranes, barges and other equipment may occupy parts of the channel during this time. Boaters are strongly encouraged to avoid the project site during the closures and to avoid the Regulated Navigation Areas, located east and west of the main channel.
Times and dates of the potential, partial closures are subject to change and will appear in the U.S. Coast Guard’s weekly Notice to Mariners and broadcast on Marine Radio Channel 22A. Tappan Zee Constructors can be contacted via Marine Radio Channel 16 for assistance.
