The U.S. Coast Guard, the New York State Thruway Authority, Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC and local law enforcement are reminding boaters of the safety measures near the New NY Bridge's active work site.
Tappan Zee Constructors recently lowered and removed the center of the old bridge's main span. Our new video captures the
day-long operation, which implemented eight hydraulic strand jacks to lower the 4,750-ton section of steel.
Tappan Zee Constructors recently completed the installation of nine steel girders above River Road and Piermont Avenue, bringing the eastbound span's Rockland landing closer to completion.
The new bridge will have space for dedicated express bus lanes for bus rapid transit from the time it opens in its final twin-span configuration. The new bridge is also being built with the structural capacity to handle rail in the future.
