This year, the New NY Bridge project team is managing two substantial initiatives - completing the eastbound span of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and dismantling the retired Tappan Zee Bridge.
Following the installation of steel at the Westchester approach, Tappan Zee Constructors continues to form the base driving surface of the eastbound span with precast concrete deck panels.
The latest addition to the project's assortment of construction webcams is located atop one of the eastbound span's 419-foot towers. The camera provides panoramic views of the old bridge, which Tappan Zee Constructors is currently disassembling.
Tappan Zee Constructors is bringing the new bridge's eastbound span closer to completion this spring with the installation of the project's final steel girder assemblies.
The Tappan Zee Bridge is being carefully dismantled using the I Lift NY super crane and other equipment. Many concrete and steel elements are being repurposed or recycled.
