Throughout the first half of 2017, Tappan Zee Constructors focused on completing the roadway of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge's first span.

This is the latest in a series of stories chronicling the construction of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, which is set to fully open to traffic later this year. Additional retrospectives can be found below.

The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge is defined by its eight iconic towers, each standing more than 400 feet above the Hudson River.  
The New NY Bridge project has made remarkable progress since October 2013, thanks to the innovative efforts and equipment utilized by Tappan Zee Constructors.  
The New NY Bridge project has come a long way since the first foundations for the twin-span crossing were installed in October 2013.

Who is building the new bridge? 
The bridge was designed and is being built by Tappan Zee Constructors (TZC), a consortium of some of the world's best-known and most highly regarded design, engineering, and construction firms, including Fluor, American Bridge, Granite Construction and Traylor Bros., along with key design firms HDR, Buckland & Taylor, URS, and GZA. TZC is working closely with a team of employees from the Governor's office, the New York State Thruway Authority and the state Department of Transportation.
